V-Pals Q&A

Who are we looking for?

Any K-12 student enrolled in any kind of schooling system, including but not limited to: public, charter, private, homeschool, or online school.

Why should I participate?

The video format of this cross-regional project is a unique opportunity for kids to be exposed to life beyond their hometowns. These vlogs are for the benefit of the children but kids and families alike will get to see the differences they might have with kids from states across the US like California, Washington, Colorado, or Massachusetts, or the similarities they might share with children from Asia! The idea is to incite personal growth in children through the exposure of differing ideas and perspectives from kids their age, whom they’ll have a stronger chance at connecting with and learning from. Most importantly, they should have fun!

What are we looking for in the vlogs?

Any and all factors that encompass the daily life of your child. This includes familial relationships, hobbies and interests, friendships,  schoolwork, school or outside activities, their background, experiences, and perspective, etc.

What’s in it for me?

This is a unique learning experience for kids and parents alike. Through vlogging, you’ll get to see how other students in different parts of the US and the world, in different or similar school systems, live and learn. You’ll not only be able to see other students but also communicate with them. Connecting and forming friendships with one another is key to the success of this project.

Who/what are the vlogs for?

Vlogs are meant to be shared, viewed, and reacted to by kids within the same age group, however, kids are not required to view and address every participants’ vlog, unless they’d like to. We encourage kids to pick and view the vlogs that interest them.

Can I still participate if I do not have the technical skills and equipment to make vlogs?

Absolutely. You can easily make vlogs with your phone or any other available technology that has a recording function and our technical team will be there to assist you. You can edit your own vlog or you can submit the footage and let our technical team edit your footage.

How secure is my child’s privacy?

The vlogs are not shared with the public—they are shared only within your child’s group. We will not share your vlogs with any person or site without your permission. The vlog content is entirely in your hands—you film only the part of your life that you want to share.
